The couple, from new York, said “iDo” at the city’s Apple store on fifth Avenue, at 12.01 on Valentine’s Day in a ceremony dominated with the company’s products and references to them.

The pair, who met in the Apple store, had their priest dressed as Steve Jobs, the company’s chief executive, read their vows from their iPhones, while the rings were tied to a ribbon wrapped around a first generation iPod.

Part of their vows included a passage from the Apple CEO that said: “You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down.”

Mrs Ling, dressed in a strapless wedding dress, had her vows written on a card that said “I love you more than this” followed by a picture of an iPhone.

Details of the unauthorised wedding, which was attended by about 30 friends, emerged after an Apple Store employee, tweeted about the wedding on Twitter, the mico-blogging site.

“We got to know each other because Ting was looking to buy an iPod…and I managed to strike up a conversation that way,” Mr Ting, who was dressed in a suit and a pink tie, later told Entertainment Weekly.

“I used to joke that the Apple Store is my church because I am not religious, and I loved everything Apple.

“Ting then came up with the idea of having the wedding there.”

Henry Hu, a friend who officiated the wedding, wrote on a blog that he had difficulty trying to find attire similar to what Jobs wore.

“I looked in every store and I ended up finding it… at Sears… for $4.97… on the clearance rack… In Extra Large…,” he wrote.

“Apparently, black turtle necks are not ‘in’ this season.

“After much preparation and anxiously waiting for the moment to come, it was a huge success,”

According to a blog on Apple’s retail stores, the ceremony was not authorised by Apple, but staff “did not interfere”.

A video of the wedding, which was shot on the phone of a local hot dog vendor who works out front of the store, has also been posted on YouTube.

Some joked underneath that it was cut with Windows Media Maker. Opinion was split about the couple’s decision.

It is not known where the couple honeymooned.

Funnyguy Jamie Kennedy may be in a serious relationship with a woman named Love, but that doesn’t make him an expert on Valentine’s Day!

“One time in sixth grade, I gave a girl like a bunch of chocolate candy hearts, and when she opened it up they were completely melted and it just looked like doody,” Jennifer Love Hewitt’s S.O. told the Track. “I kept them in the school closet near the heater because I wanted to hide them. She was like ‘Ewww.’ “

Kennedy said he hopes this VDay – which he’ll spend in Boston with his Love – will provide better memories.

“You know, I really couldn’t say where we’re going, but I’m going to probably try to do my shows and really just take in the sights of Boston.”

Kennedy, 39, who has been dating Hewitt for nearly a year, calls his “Ghost Whisperer” co-star an “inspiration.”

“You know, we’re two people in Hollywood. we both have our own fame, we have our own money and our own careers and we’re making it and we love each other,” he said. “I think that says a lot about our connection. There are a lot of people who are together for reasons that aren’t just love. her and I have everything we need singularly, which makes us together even stronger because we know that. we are with each other because we love each other.”

Oh, yeah, he’s smitten. so what’s the deal, Jamie? Marriage? Kids?

“We talk about everything. I mean, that would be amazing and amazing with her,” he said. “The thing that’s sometimes scary is that there is a lot of responsibility, but we definitely talk about it and it would be interesting to see a little J.J. – you know, Jennifer Jamie.”

So, any advice to lovers under some serious pressure as the big day approaches?

“I think it’s tough to be in a relationship, now more than ever,” he said. “You really have to love the person you’re with and be committed to them and be respectful of them, which I’ve learned from (Hewitt) more than anyone I’ve been with.”

Kennedy is performing Saturday night at the Wilbur Theatre. Tickets are still available.

It’s a trusted formula: Send your sweetheart flowers, chocolates or teddy bears on Valentine’s Day to express your love.

But what about sending a $10 image of flowers, chocolates or teddy bears to someone’s online profile?

How about spending $50 on an icon of a pile of cash to impress a stranger you want to date?

The concept of paying real-world money for a virtual good has been around for a few years in games and social networks. On Facebook, for example, users can pay a few bucks to decorate a friend’s profile page with an icon — like a beer mug or a birthday balloon.

But in the past few months, several online dating sites have introduced virtual gift stores — and users are jumping at the chance to woo a mate.

As mystifying as it may seem to traditional romantics, virtual gifts have become a $1 billion industry in the United States according to the research group Inside Network. Spending money on virtual goods has been huge in other parts of the world — analysts estimate it to be a $5 billion industry worldwide.

Valentine’s Day may come around during the winter season, but as roses, orchids and other assorted floral arrangements testify, the most romantic day of the year also hints at budding life.

Though that life remains hidden under inches of snow in Central Virginia, area florists say this Valentine’s Day is just as blossom-oriented as ever.

Mary Reynolds, who manages Frederic’s Flowers in Bedford, said this holiday is shaping up to be one of the best she’s had in her 15 years managing the store.

“We have Friday, where you can deliver to the businesses or the schools, and then you have Saturday and Sunday also to deliver to the homes,” she said.

For Reynolds, whose store usually doesn’t operate on Sundays outside of special orders and funerals, the placement of this year’s Valentine’s Day is great for business.

“We’ve had just as many (orders) for Sunday as we did for (Saturday),” she said Friday afternoon.
